I’m Patrick Lopez, also known as DJ P-LO. For more than 25 years, I’ve combined DJ entertainment, live trumpet, piano, vocals and professional MC service to create celebrations that feel personal, energetic and unforgettable.

“Before I ever learned to read music, I learned how to feel it.”
My story began at seven years old with a guitar and a natural ability to play by ear. Years later, when there was no guitar position available in the school band, I chose the trumpet—a simple decision that changed the direction of my life.
At the School of the Arts, I studied under Neil Bonnetti, saxophonist for the Bee Gees. At sixteen, he helped me land my first professional New Year’s Eve performance. That night showed me that music could become more than something I loved—it could become my life’s work.

What I Believe
After more than 25 years of performing, I have learned that an unforgettable celebration is never created by making the entertainer the center of attention. It happens when the music, hosting and live performance reflect the people being celebrated and connect everyone in the room.
My responsibility is to understand the couple, prepare for every important transition and guide the experience with confidence. I want each performance to feel spontaneous and exciting, but the freedom to create those moments comes from listening carefully and doing the work beforehand.

I am there to elevate your story—not compete with it. The music, announcements and performance moments should always reflect who you are and the atmosphere you want your guests to experience.
Sometimes that means creating a show-stopping moment. Other times it means stepping back and allowing the emotion in the room to speak for itself.
Reading the Room Comes First
A playlist can provide direction, but it cannot replace awareness. Every crowd communicates through its energy, movement and response, and I pay attention to those signals throughout the celebration.
The best musical decisions happen when experience and preparation meet what the room is telling me in real time.
Preparation Creates Freedom
Great celebrations feel effortless because the timeline, music, introductions and technical details were handled before the first guest arrived. Preparation gives everyone permission to relax and remain present.
It also gives me the freedom to adapt when the room needs something different from what was originally planned.
Hosting Should Feel Natural
A professional MC should bring clarity, confidence and warmth without turning every announcement into a performance. Guests should always understand what is happening while the celebration continues to feel relaxed.
My goal is to guide the room, protect the timeline and create energy without ever sounding forced or rehearsed.
Live Music Must Serve the Moment
Trumpet, piano, vocals and featured musicians can transform the energy of a room, but only when they are introduced with intention. Live music should enhance the emotion already present—not interrupt it.
Every live element is chosen for what it adds to the couple’s experience and how naturally it connects with the DJ performance.

The strongest dance floors connect generations, cultures and musical tastes. Being bilingual and performing for diverse audiences has taught me how meaningful it is when every family feels recognized.
